To stay in the league – six new winter signings at St. Tönis

SC St. Tönis has made a move on the transfer market. Six new signings are set to help the club stay in the Niederrhein Oberliga.

After a worryingly weak start to the season, SC St. Tönis managed to recover before the winter break. After changing coach to Bekim Kastrati, the trend was upwards, with only one defeat in the last six games.

However, Tönisvorst are far from being saved. Although they have worked their way up from the bottom of the table to 15th place, there is still a lot of work to be done before they can secure their place in the Oberliga Niederrhein.

And this will be tackled with a rebuilt squad. The club has now unveiled six new signings, four of whom were already on the pitch at the start of training on Tuesday evening.

They are David Wieczorek, Furkan Baydar, Daiki Kamo and Dario Gerling. Maksym Lufarenko and Kohei Nakano were not yet present

The 19-year-old midfield talent Wieczorek played for MSV Duisburg’s U19s until last summer and has been without a club ever since. Now he can show himself for the first time at senior level. Baydar is also 19 years old. The winger comes from KFC Uerdingen, where he is due to return in the summer.

Kamo (21, defensive midfield) moves to St. Tönis from Siegburger SV in the Mittelrheinliga. Dario Gerling (22) arrives from SV Hönnepel-Niedermörmter, who are bottom of the Landesliga. The striker has scored ten goals in 19 appearances this season and has already gained senior league experience with 1. FC Bocholt and SV Schermbeck.

Defensive midfielder Nakano (21) has so far played for league rivals TVD Velbert, while Ukrainian Lufarenko joins the Kastrati team from abroad: The 19-year-old midfielder was last on the ball in the Belgian fourth division.

Before the new signings, the club had made room in the squad. As reported, Alfred Appiah, Luca Jerz (both 1. FC Kleve), Mats Platen (VfR Fischeln), Joshua Claringbold, Daud Gergery, Nils Macvan and Yeong-muk Choi (all destination unknown) will play for other clubs in the future
