Promoted team presents new coach for the upcoming season

The team, currently in fifth place in the Westfalenliga 2, has made things clear regarding the coaching position and presented a new coach for the next season.

Until the summer of 2022, Holzwickeder SC was still competing in the Oberliga Westfalen, but in the past and current seasons, the HSC has been competing in the Westfalenliga.

It is still unclear in which league the club will play after the summer break. As fifth in the table in season 2 – just two points behind the top of the table and with one game less played – anything seems possible before the start of the remaining games.

What is already clear, however, is that Holzwickede will start the 2024/25 season with a new coach. That coach will be Kurtulus Öztürk, who will succeed Benjamin Hartlieb. The current coach had already announced a few weeks ago that he would be leaving in the summer. Time constraints had led him to this decision.

Öztürk is a 43-year-old coach who spent a year at HSC at the end of his active career. He also played for Borussia Dortmund II and for Turkish professional clubs, among others.

Above all, Öztürk has experience as a professional trainer. As Marco Antwerpen’s assistant, he was on the sidelines at Viktoria Cologne, Preußen Münster, Eintracht Braunschweig and Würzburger Kickers. In addition, Öztürk assisted Markus Kauczinski at Wehen Wiesbaden.

Öztürk is currently responsible for the district league club and his home club Werner SC. He is expected to remain there until the end of the season. The Werner native is already involved in his future club’s squad planning for the upcoming season.

“Kurtulus Öztürk has an impressive CV both as a player and as a coach. He is very familiar with both the professional and amateur sectors and combines many important attributes such as professional competence, loyalty and regional ties,” says Karl Lösbrock, sports director of the Holzwickede club. “Thanks to his time as a player at the then HSV, he is familiar with the environment in Holzwickede and can identify 100 percent with the club. I am very happy to be able to win such a proven expert for our club.”
