Supporters Club warns of relegation, Tönnies fantasies and calls for solidarity

FC Schalke 04 Supporters Club has commented on the current situation of the second division club and warned against a return of Clemens Tönnies.

The “FC Schalke 04 Supporters Club” has existed since the fall of 1996. Since then, it has occasionally spoken out when things have gone off the rails from its perspective.

Ahead of the relegation thriller against Eintracht Braunschweig (Saturday, 1 p.m.), the fan organization made an impassioned appeal to all fans of the Royal Blues. They also warned against the recurring rumors that Clemens Tönnies could be part of the solution to the club’s problems.

“What we have had to see on the pitch in recent days and weeks from our beloved S04 is best described as ‘cruel’,” wrote the fan organization, which has between 850 and 900 members, in a statement on its Facebook page. ‘But off the pitch, too, there is more and more noise, both justified and unjustified.’

The Supporters Club, which was set up to represent the interests of Schalke members, spoke out clearly against a return of former supervisory board chairman Clemens Tönnies. “Regardless of the criticism of the current leaders and their mistakes, it cannot be the solution to now call for people who have brought us into the situation over the years that we no longer have any money and that we can no longer afford to make any more mistakes,” said the supporters.

“Apart from the fact that an immediate complete change of all club committees is neither possible under the statutes nor under club law and would therefore not be a solution. In sporting terms, it doesn’t help us in the here and now either!”

From now until May, the only thing that matters is to save Schalke from ruin and put all squabbles aside. “Everything that counts now, in this moment, today and in the next few days, weeks and months, and that can still save this club, can only be done on the pitch! This must now be the focus of all Schalke fans, even if it is perhaps difficult. We cannot afford any further distractions from the sporting crisis, which distract from the essentials: to stay in the league, no matter how!”

This can only be achieved if everyone at Schalke pulls together. “No matter who, whether it’s the club management, fans, any more or less well-known opposition, former officials or players and coaches: everyone must be aware that the only way to save the club is to stay in the league and that we must all focus on that,” say the board and the advisory board. Therefore, their appeal to everyone who cares about Schalke: “Just ‘SHUT UP’! “Shut up” only to support the team! It may be difficult now, but it is currently the only option!

The error analysis can then be done later when the team has been saved from relegation.
