In office since 2011 – Essen-based coach extends his contract

Bezirksligist SC Werden-Heidhausen is setting the course for the future. Coach Danny Konietzko will remain with the club.

The era of Danny Konietzko at SC Werden-Heidhausen continues. The long-standing coach has extended his contract by a further year and will continue to lead the team in the 2024/25 season.

Konietzko, who previously played for Werden, has been the head coach of the Essen district league club since 2011. This means that the 48-year-old will enter his 14th season as Werden coach in the summer.

“It was clear to us that we wanted to continue working with Danny. He is a Werdener through and through, has a love of detail and, even after so many years, continues to be fully committed. We are staying on our path and will continue this very trusting and successful collaboration beyond the current season,” explained CEO Christoph Steinmetz.

Konietzko was pleased about the next contract extension. The former youth coach of Rot-Weiss Essen emphasized:

As a coach, taking on these challenges drives me again and again, even after this long tenure. That’s why I decided to extend my contract. At the same time, we want to expand the coaching team.

“Every year brings with it different conditions and changing circumstances. At the same time, the SCWH is my club, I am a Werdener through and through and always ambitious that we develop as a club. Facing these challenges is what drives me as a coach again and again, even after this long term of office. That’s why I decided to extend my contract. At the same time, we want to expand the coaching team. I’m looking for someone.”

After 18 games, SC Werden-Heidhausen are safely in mid-table in District League Group 6. They already have a 14-point lead over the first relegation place. This means that the club from the south of Essen can plan for the district league next year – with Danny Konietzko.
