District court allows charges against Schulz

The District Court of Dortmund has allowed the public prosecutor to press charges against former national soccer player Nico Schulz.

The main proceedings will be opened before the court of lay assessors on February 28 at 2:00 p.m., Judge Michael Tebbe confirmed to the SID on Wednesday: “The charge is dangerous bodily harm.” The Ruhr Nachrichten had reported this earlier. The presumption of innocence applies until a final conviction.

Borussia Dortmund terminated Schulz’s contract prematurely last summer. Since then, the 30-year-old has been without a club; his last professional appearance was on May 7, 2022. In 2019, the full-back joined BVB from TSG Hoffenheim for €25 million.
