From Poland – BVB legend comes with his club for a test match

On December 8, 2023, a very special test match will take place. SV Wacker Obercastrop will then host a Polish club, including a BVB legend.

Football fans in Castrop-Rauxel and also Borussia Dortmund supporters should make a note of this date in their calendars.

On December 8 (7:30 p.m.), the clubs of BVB legends Kevin Großkreutz and Lukasz Piszczek will face each other. The Westfalenliga club SV Wacker Obercastrop will host the Polish fourth division club LKS Goczalkowice. Here, 38-year-old Piszczek has been player-coach since July 2021 and is now also a football teacher – Forecasting reported.

Großkreutz and Piszczek once celebrated great successes at Borussia Dortmund. They won the DFB Cup and became German champions together. They also made it to the 2012/2013 Champions League final with BVB. Borussia, then under coach Jürgen Klopp, played a great game in London, but in the end, FC Bayern Munich won the European football championship in the German-German final.

Piszczek, who transferred from Hertha BSC to Dortmund in the summer of 2010, left Borussia for his native Poland eleven years later. Now he returns to Castrop-Rauxel as a coach for a test match.

Piszczek played a total of 382 competitive matches for Borussia Dortmund. During his professional career, the 66-time Polish international also played 87 times for Hertha BSC and 80 times for Zaglebie Lubin. He ended his professional career in the summer of 2021 and returned to Polish fifth division club LKS Goczalkowice, where his father is president. Here he is gaining his first experiences as a player-coach.
