Actually, Türkspor Dortmund was supposed to host FC Schalke 04 II at the provisional home ground in Hagen at the weekend. Actually.
This time it should really be so far. On Saturday, October 19, 2 p.m., Türkspor Dortmund should host FC Schalke 04 II in Hagen for a home game in the Regionalliga West. But it won’t happen.
The Ischeland Stadium in Hagen is still not suitable for the regional league. The last home game against Fortuna Cologne, which should have been played in Velbert, was canceled: the stadium rent would have been too high.
But now Türkspor is supposed to move to the IMS Arena of SSVg Velbert again. The game against the Schalke reserve team is to be rescheduled for mid-November. This was announced by FC Schalke 04. The game will be played on Friday, November 15, at 7:30 p.m. in the IMS Arena of SSVg Velbert.
Instead of the planned regional league game, the U23 will play a test match against SV Schermbeck this week. The kick-off for the game on Rasenplatz 04 is on Thursday evening, October 17, at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
Türkspor’s sports director explained what the change of venue means for the Dortmund team. “In Hagen, we pay 1,000 euros per month in stadium rent. On top of that, we incur costs for security personnel and catering. In the most extreme case, such as for the home game against MSV Duisburg, we are talking about costs of around 10,000 euros per game.”
But then there would be income from the sale of drinks, which in the previous constellation would have been reserved for SSVg Velbert as the stadium’s landlord. “We will finish the season. With the Ischeland Stadium as our home ground, we will manage it,” Kayabasi said confidently.
Whether Türkspor will then also play in the fourth division in the coming season is, however, another matter. They have recently suffered four defeats in a row, including two heavy defeats (3:7 against SC Paderborn II and 0:7 against Fortuna Düsseldorf II).
