Trio at the U21 – beer announcement from Peter Zeidler

Peter Zeidler will treat the VfL Bochum professionals to a beer after successes in the future. With one restriction.

It was the topic of conversation during the international break at Bundesliga club VfL Bochum. It became public knowledge that the team, coached by Peter Zeidler, did not take kindly to going for a walk together before away games and that there is no beer in the dressing room after matches.

Now, you might think that after starting the Bundesliga season with just one point from six games, there are bigger problems. In any case, there were also questions about the press conference before the away game between VfL and TSG Hoffenheim, asking about the beer after the games.

Bochum’s coach Zeidler took a clear stand on this. With a sense of humor, however, he did not let himself be dissuaded from his basic position, because he emphasized: “We can agree that after every victory by VfL Bochum, the coach pays for three cases of beer.” The local brewery makes a fantastic non-alcoholic beer. Alcohol has no place in high-performance sports after competitions, that is my firm conviction. However, I grew up in regions where beer is a staple. But that is not the issue for VfL Bochum.”

The topic of VfL is rather to ensure that the class is also maintained this year. There are currently bigger problems here, because Bochum are last, and they have not won any of their first seven games, including the first-round game in the DFB Cup.

Therefore, Zeidler would certainly be happy if he could pay for the first three crates out of his own wallet after the TSG match. Three players will not be able to help with the implementation, because Mohamed Tolba, Lennart Koerdt and keeper Hugo Rölleke will help out against SV Lippstadt on Saturday (4:30 p.m.) in the U21 in the Oberliga Westfalen.

Zeidler is still keeping the door open for one or two more releases to the U21s, and emphasized: “Mats Pannewig is an example of how players can recommend themselves to the pros through the U21s.”
