Hildmann was reminded of this Regionalliga duel during the 3:3 thriller

Preußen Münster treated the fans at the Preußen Stadium to a turbulent game on Sunday – just like exactly one year ago to the day in the Regionalliga West.

November 26 apparently stands for excitement at Preußen Münster – at least in this year and last.

On Sunday, the SCP played a wild third division duel with Viktoria Cologne. Trailing 2-0, the eagle bearers came back to turn the game around within four minutes of play around half-time to lead 3-2 – but ultimately had to settle for a 3-3 draw.

The team, managed by Sascha Hildmann, put in a similarly memorable performance exactly one year ago today. The SCP were guests at SG Wattenscheid 09 in the Regionalliga West – and as the league leaders against the relegation candidates, they were the clear favorites.

But the team from Münster managed to squander their 4-1 half-time lead at the Lohrheide. However, after Wattenscheid scored the equalizer in the final minute, they managed to get the lucky punch. In the sixth minute of stoppage time, Simon Scherder scored the winning goal to make it 5-4.

The Prussians were not granted this moment of luck a year later against Viktoria Cologne. Nevertheless, Sascha Hildmann had to think of the events of a year ago, as the coach explained after the game in club media. “Somehow it all reminds me of Wattenscheid,” he said to assistant coach Louis Cordes during the game. “If we make it 4-3, everyone will freak out. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough.”

After the second draw in a row, Hildmann was not dissatisfied. It was a crazy game in which his team fought outstandingly, but made life difficult for themselves through individual mistakes. ”I would have loved to win, of course. But you always have to see the big picture. The way we played was fine,” said the coach, whose team will be guests at 1. FC Saarbrücken next Saturday (2 p.m., RS live ticker).
