There were only four matches on match day 16 of the Westfalenliga 2. A promoted team continues to cause a stir.
Even before TuS Erndtebrück took to the pitch, it was clear that they would leave it as the autumn champions of the Westfalenliga 2. Due to the fact that neither Holzwickeder SC nor Concordia Wiemelhausen were able to compete on the 16th matchday due to the weather conditions, Erndtebrück could no longer be displaced from first place.
Nevertheless, the mood of the Oberliga relegated team is likely to have been somewhat subdued. This is because they ended the year with a 1-2 defeat at promoted team SV Westfalia Soest. This move sees Soest leapfrogging to second place, and they are even level on points with Erndtebrück. However, the league leaders have the significantly better goal difference.
FC Iserlohn kept in touch with the top of the table by beating Hombrucher SV 2-0. Iserlohn had already scored the final result before half-time.
That was also the initial situation in the city derby between DSC Wanne-Eickel and SV Sodingen. Michel Post (45.+1) had scored the first-half lead for Sodingen. But Wanne-Eickel did not give up and equalized in the 90th minute. This means that Sodingen has escaped relegation, but failed to create some breathing space. Despite the lucky punch, DSC have not won in four games.
Promoted SpVgg Horsthausen also end the year with a defeat. They lost 1-0 to SV Wacker Obercastrop. Elvis Shala scored the eleventh goal of the season to secure the away win (60′).
