Vonic or Berlinski – which striker should start?

At “Vonne Hafenstraße” we discuss the failure of Rot-Weiss Essen to take chances. A player can’t please everyone.

This season, Rot-Weiss Essen is not making enough of its chances. The third division team also created good opportunities against SV Sandhausen – but RWE failed in front of goal on several occasions. And so, the team of coach Christoph Dabrowski lost 1:2 (0:1) against SV Sandhausen this Saturday.

On “Vonne Hafenstraße”, our RWE video talk show, presenter Kira Alex talks to reporters Ralf Wilhelm and Justus Heinisch about the defeat. The trio agree that a goal should have been scored in the first half. Leonardo Vonic, Isi Young, Lucas Brumme and Marvin Obuz all missed the best chances.

The discussion about Vonic was controversial – a young talent who undoubtedly has potential but is currently unable to live up to it, as seen in the missed golden opportunity. “You have to make something like that,” says Wilhelm, adding: “I don’t think it’s a question of whether he’s young or old, but whether you have the coolness in front of goal. I maintain that you can’t learn that.”

Heinisch, on the other hand, says: “If you look at his haul in Nuremberg, you can see that he can be cold-blooded.” It’s all in the mind. He believes that Rot-Weiss Essen will have a lot of fun with the striker. But: Berlinski is chomping at the bit, and he was able to draw attention to himself on Saturday.

The trio also talk about the performance of Isi Young and Eric Voufack – and they assess how much the team missed Felix Götze. Do we need new players in the winter? In which positions? And how important are the last three games before the break? Alex, Wilhelm and Heinisch also discuss this.
