Two Bochum clubs had something to cheer about in the Westfalen Oberliga this weekend. Dortmund clubs are giving up their leads.
Promotion to the Westfalen Oberliga seems to be going through only one team this season. At least, after the 14th matchday, the signs are pointing in that direction. VfL Bochum II remains unbeaten for the twelfth game in a row and thus leads the table.
The team of coach Heiko Butscher traveled to Victoria Clarholz and brought back a 3-1 (2-1) victory from there to the Ruhr area. Bochum coped well with the equalizer after a directly converted corner. Semin Kojic scored the final result with a double.
The match day was less successful for Concordia Wiemelhausen. The newly promoted team were beaten 5-0 by SpVgg Vreden. After the game was still evenly poised at half-time, the Bochum team conceded four goals in the second 45 minutes and remain in a relegation place.
The ASC 09 Dortmund and the Spvgg Erkenschwick currently have little to do with this region of the table. They shared the points after the 2-2 draw and both remain in the upper midfield of the table. The ASC took a 2-0 lead before Arda Nebi equalized with a double pack.
The next draw on Sunday was between Sportfreunde Siegen and SC Verl II. The two teams drew 1-1. The game between Preußen Münster II and Eintracht Rheine was more goal-rich, with Preußen Münster II winning 2-1.
SG Wattenscheid 09 recorded a win again after four consecutive defeats – and caused an upset in the process. With goals from Fynn Broos and Emre Yesilova, they won 2-1 against top team Westfalia Rhynern and made up some ground in the table.
TuS Bövinghausen almost sent a sign of life again. At half-time, the Dortmund team were 2-1 up against SV Lippstadt, who had been relegated from the Regionalliga. But it wasn’t enough for them to get anything out of it. SVL turned the game around and won 4-2.
Meanwhile, SV Schermbeck’s winning streak seems to know no end. SVS beat TuS Ennepetal 2-0 to climb further up the table.
Meanwhile, SG Finnentrop/Bamenohl are facing a slight downturn. They lost 2-0 against 1. FC Gievenbeck, who remain in the top flight as a result.
