Striker Hoffmann – “This is a very annoying defeat”

VfL Bochum have suffered their first defeat in two matches under head coach Dieter Hecking. The 0-2 loss at VfB Stuttgart was avoidable.

After drawing 1-1 with Bayer Leverkusen before the international break, VfL Bochum started with a loss in game one after the international break. In game two under new coach Dieter Hecking, they lost 0-2 at VfB Stuttgart.

The conspicuous Chris Führich scored the VfB lead in the 53rd minute in front of 59,000 spectators. Justin Diehl, who had only been substituted a few seconds earlier, scored the 2-0 (78th minute) with his debut goal in the Bundesliga.

Bochum will be playing FC Augsburg next weekend – Saturday, November 30, 3:30 p.m. – and SV Werder Bremen will be coming to Castroper Straße the following week.

Striker Philipp Hoffmann answered questions from media representatives after the game in Stuttgart. He talked about……

the 0-2 loss in Stuttgart: “It’s a very annoying loss. We played well until the 1-0 and had a great chance before that. We just have to score. I think we deserved a point in Stuttgart. But we also didn’t win enough second balls. It’s extremely important to win these balls. We concede too easily, but I also saw a lot of good things.”

.. the positive things: “We defended compactly and Stuttgart didn’t really get into the game. Especially in the first half. Then we fall asleep for a second or two and concede a goal. It’s annoying, of course, when you miss out on one moment and the back door starts rattling. Bitter!”

… the next few games: “It’s normal that we still have a lot of work ahead of us. But it will all come. I’m sure of it. Stuttgart and Leverkusen were, of course, opponents against whom you also have to be compact. Now we might face opponents where we will have the ball more and we will have to come up with something.” with gp
