An update to the DFB’s fussball.de app has caused a stir among many users. The developers are clearly taking the criticism to heart.
The makers of the “Fussball.de” app had certainly not expected this. The latest version of the app received a massive response – a negative one, mind you. A number of users complained about the update: numerous complaints were raised in the ratings, on social media and even via forecasting.
On Sunday, the Fussball.de team responded to the wave of outrage and apologized. And that’s not all: those in charge are rolling back the update. Anyone who updates the amateur soccer app again will get the previous version. All results from this weekend will be entered as usual.
In a statement shared with Fussball.de on the website and on Instagram, it says: “Since the iOS update on Tuesday, we have received many messages from you. You are angry, sad and disappointed. We can understand that. We didn’t expect that the app would now be severely flawed for many of you – we have to be honest and self-critical.”
And further: “You are missing an important basis for your club and team organization. This should not be the case, and we can only apologize to you for this. For this reason, you can now update and return to the old, familiar version.”
Now the developers – fussball.de is an offering of the German Football Association (DFB) – are working on fixing the bugs in the new app. “We are meticulously collecting your feedback on structure, clarity and design and trying to optimize the app based on your feedback so that you can continue to use the new app as the home of amateur football in the future.”
Whereby many users do not seem to see any need for a new app at all. On the fussball.de Instagram page, for example, one user comments: “You can see now that a new version is not necessary at all, people were happy with the old one. So please stop developing. Leave everything as it is and everyone will be happy.” And that’s just one of many comments along these lines.
