Mintard keeper Haas praises his Velbert colleague after 0-0 draw

Landesligist DJK Blau-Weiß Mintard drew 0-0 with SC Velbert in an intense match. Partly responsible for this were the strong goalkeepers on both sides.

There are goalless draws that really stay in nobody’s memory. The 0-0 draw between the two Landesliga teams Blau-Weiß Mintard and SC Velbert does not belong in this category.

In an extremely physical match with a lot of duels, both teams had a few chances to score, but each failed twice because of the aluminium or the excellent goalkeepers.

One of those was Mintard keeper Dominic Haas, who praised his opposite number’s performance after the game. “We tried to step on the gas the whole time and also created some good scoring chances,” said the 28-year-old. “Unfortunately, the Velbert goalkeeper had a really good day and made a lot of saves. In my eyes, he was a bit of the hero of the day, who kept the point for Velbert.”

Haas was not quite so pleased, however, with the fact that in his opinion the Velbert players took a lot of time in their actions throughout the game. “It starts as early as the fifth minute, when a lot of time is wasted every time the game is interrupted. There’s nothing wrong with that in principle, but I would have liked the referee to say something and stop it from the start.”

The draw means that the Mintards are not really making any headway in the table. Eleven points from the first six games of the season currently mean fourth place in the table, albeit with one game more than most of the competition. The goalkeeper was not really satisfied with this result.

“We are never completely satisfied because we want to get the maximum out of every game and we didn’t manage that now. On the other hand, the point against Velbert is not completely wrong because we were also a bit lucky at the end with the crossbar goal shortly before the end. The situation is difficult to judge,” Haas continued. “We always have our phases in the games where we implement exactly what we set out to do well and everyone pulls together, and then there are phases again that are somehow still inexplicable to us. We then make simple mistakes, don’t stick to our plan and then it always gets difficult. That happens to us too often and we have to become more consistent. Everyone has to look at themselves and see what they can do better. That’s the only way.

The next opportunity for Haas and his teammates will be next Sunday in the away game against 1st FC Wülfrath.
