Dede and Piszczek are coming – a big crowd is expected, top players are going

Friday, December 8, 2023: This will be a big day for the Westalenliga club SV Wacker Obercastrop. Because Dede will wear the Wacker jersey for a game, and Lukasz Piszczek will be his opponent.

Three legends of Borussia Dortmund in a game of a club in the Westfalenliga. You say that’s not possible? SV Wacker Obercastrop will prove you wrong on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 7:30 p.m.

The Westfalenliga club will host the Polish fourth division team LKS Goczalkowice this Friday evening. The 38-year-old Piszczek has been player-coach here since July 2021 and is now also a football teacher.

He will be joined by a third BVB legend: Dede will play for the sixth division club from Castrop-Rauxel with a guest permit. “We are really looking forward to it. When Kevin Großkreutz told me that Piszczek and his team were invited to BVB this weekend and would like to test against us beforehand, I didn’t have to think twice. Of course, we want to offer the fans this spectacle,” says Tim Eibold, sporting director of the team currently in sixth place in the Westfalenliga 2.

1,400 tickets have already been sold in advance. SV Wacker is secretly hoping for up to 2,000 spectators. “Advance ticket sales are still running. We appeal to everyone to use them. However, a box office will also be opened as things stand,” Eibold informs.

Großkreutz and Piszczek once celebrated great successes at Borussia Dortmund. Together they won the DFB Cup and became German champions. They also reached the 2012/2013 Champions League final with BVB. Borussia, then under the direction of coach Jürgen Klopp, played a great game in London, but in the end FC Bayern Munich won the European football championship in the German-German final.

Key player leaves SV Wacker Obercastrop

Marin Vranjic and Großkreutz have not played in the premier league, but in the Westfalenliga in Obercastrop. The Bosnian was one of the key players in Antonio Molina’s team, playing 15 games from the start. In the future, however, the Wacker coach will have to do without Vranjic, who won the national title twice as a professional in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The 28-year-old is returning to his home country in the winter.

“This is a bitter loss for us. Marin is not only a fine footballer but also a great person. We will miss him. We are looking at how we can replace him,” explains Eibold. He adds: ‘Now we are looking forward to a big family celebration on Friday evening with Kevin, Dede, Lukasz and SV Wacker Obercastrop!’
