Third division MSV Duisburg is visiting Erzgebirge Aue. This is what coach Boris Schommers expects from the game.
On Saturday afternoon (December 9, 4:30 p.m.), MSV Duisburg will be a guest at Erzgebirge Aue. A good omen? The last time the Zebras played in Aue, it ended successfully: MSV won 2-0 in the Erzgebirgsstadion on November 8, 2022. The Revierklub also won the second leg 3-0 and thus kept a clean sheet against their upcoming opponents last season.
However, the signs now look different. While Aue is having a solid season with 26 points after 17 games and is seventh in the table, Duisburg is stuck in the bottom half of the table. Despite the recent home win against VfB Lübeck (1-0), the safety line is five points away.
Coach Boris Schommers expects a difficult game in Aue: “They have scored in each of their last three games and most recently kept a clean sheet at home against BVB II. I believe that they are where they are not without reason. It’s very difficult to play against them. Aue has a very clear plan. It will be a tough away game, but one that we are very happy to take on. We’re going there to keep our hopes up of getting something.
Since Tuesday, three talented players from the U19 team, goalkeeper Fotios Adamidis, striker Kaan Inanoglu and right-back Batuhan Yavuz, have been able to show what they can do on the pitch and play for the professionals. The main focus was on Inanoglu, who has already scored nine times in this U19 Bundesliga season.
Kaan has been working hard in training and will surely be up there again before the winter. Of course, there is still a difference between facing a seasoned third division central defender or a youth player, without detracting from that. We will definitely not take him with us at the weekend.
Boris Schommers.
However, he is not an option for the squad in Aue, as Schommers revealed: “I have now got to know the boy personally. He has been with us for three sessions and will return to normal training with the U19s on Thursday. He made a good first impression and was very motivated. Kaan has thrown himself into training and will definitely be up there again before the winter. Of course, there is still a difference between facing a seasoned third-division central defender and a youth player, without detracting from that. We will definitely not take him with us at the weekend.”
