BVB’s injury luck has struck again. Another player faces a long break.
After Julian Ryerson, Felix Nmecha, and Youssoufa Moukoko, Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund will also have to do without striker Karim Adeyemi for a long time.
Adeyemi suffered a partial tear of the syndesmosis in the Champions League game against Paris St. Germain and had to be substituted injured. He already missed the Bundesliga game in Augsburg last Saturday due to injury and will not be available to BVB in the coming weeks.
This means that four players will not be available for Dortmund in the last game of the year on Tuesday (8:30 p.m.) against FSV Mainz.
However, the opponent is hit even harder. Because relegation candidate Mainz has to play in Dortmund with Leandro Barreiro (torn hamstring), Joshua Guilavogui (hamstring injury), Andreas Hanche-Olsen (ankle surgery), Maxim Leitsch (hamstring muscle injury), Nelson Weiper (knee arthroscopy) and Robin Zentner (bony finger injury )
After the match against FSV Mainz 05, the BVB professionals have a break until January 2. After that, they will go to a training camp in southern Spain for seven days.
From January 3 to 9, 2024, coach Edin Terzic and his players will travel to Marbella as they did last year. On site, BVB will play a test match against AZ Alkmaar on January 6 at 3 p.m. for four 30-minute halves, and against Standard Liège on January 9 at 11 a.m. The matches will take place at the Banús Football Center (Dama de Noche) training ground.
This is how BVB could play against Mainz 05:
Kobel – Meunier, Süle, Hummels, Bensebaini – Brandt, Öczan – Malen, Reus, Bynoe-Gittens – Füllkrug
The following players are unavailable: Adeyemi (ankle injury), Moukoko (torn muscle fiber), F. Nmecha (hip injury), Ryerson (knee injury)
