At SG Wattenscheid 09, the squad reorganization began before Christmas. The first addition is fixed, five men are allowed to leave the club. RS knows the names of the players.
Umut Yildiz is the name of the first winter signing for SG Wattenscheid 09. The winger is returning from TuS Bövinghausen to his old club. Forecasting reported on this transfer on Thursday (December 21).
Even before the canceled and last Clarholz game before the winter break, Engin Yavuzaslan had emphasized to Forecasting: “We’re not making a secret of the fact that we’re going to do something in terms of personnel. We don’t yet know how many players there will ultimately be.”
According to RS information, two more Bövinghausen players, Niklas Lübcke and Nico Thier, are being discussed at the Lohrheide.
It remains to be seen how many players will follow Yildiz. However, it is also clear that current players will have to make room for new additions. Here, too, the Wattenscheid coach emphasized: “We will reduce the squad.”
As Forecasting learned, the sporting leadership around coach Yavuzaslan and sports director Hartmut Fahnenstich has informed Lars Holm, Ahmed Kulalic, Blerton Muharremi, Yutaro Ichimura and Oluremi Martins Williams that they no longer play a role in the team and are free to look for new clubs in January 2024.
The minutes played by the candidates for elimination were also limited: Kulalic did not play at all, Holm played 90 minutes, Muharremi played 428 minutes, Ichimura played 224 minutes and Williams played 753 minutes.
The team from Wattenscheid, which is at the bottom of the Oberliga West, will have to start a comeback in the new year. Then, in addition to Yildiz, there will probably be other new players.
Coach Yavuzaslan knows exactly what future Wattenscheid players must be made of. Yavuzaslan emphasized: “At Wattenscheid, you’re always under pressure. The fans expect, and rightly so, that the team will march ahead in home games. The players have to be able to handle the pressure and rise to the occasion. That’s Wattenscheid. Those who can’t handle it don’t belong here.”
