The football year is over, time to let numbers speak. Here is an overview of who has excelled positively and negatively in the 3rd division so far.
The 20th matchday marked the end of the 2022/23 football year in the 3rd division. The first second-half matchday has already been played, although three games still have to be played.

Matches to be played
The matches 1860 Munich – Rot-Weiss Essen, SpVgg Unterhaching – Hallescher FC and BVB II – Preußen Münster have to be played in 2024.
Top scorers
Jannik Mause of FC Ingolstadt tops the scoring charts with 13 goals. He joined the club from Alemannia Aachen in the Regionalliga West in the summer and has settled in well to the division above. The goalscorer scores every 120 minutes.
Dominic Baumann (Hallescher FC) and Malik Batmaz (Preußen Münster) are joint second with eleven goals each. In fact, Batmaz scores more often on average than Mause, namely every 111 minutes.
A total of 552 goals have been scored in the season so far, which averages out at 2.8 goals per game. It is noticeable that most goals are scored in the quarter of an hour before half-time (101) and the final quarter of an hour (126).
Spectators
Dynamo Dresden is clearly in first place. 28,833 spectators on average attended the home games of the Dynamos. Arminia Bielefeld is in second place (17,554 spectators on average) ahead of Rot-Weiss Essen (16,568 spectators per game). MSV is in fifth place with an average of 12,311 spectators per home game.
As expected, the three lowest-attended matches were Borussia Dortmund II (3,627 spectators per home match), SC Verl (2,477 spectators per home match) and Freiburg II (2,261 spectators per home match).
A total of 1,822,918 spectators have attended the matches so far, which, after 20 match days, amounts to a strong average of 9,253.
Cards
Most yellow cards have been collected by BVB II so far. 47 yellow cards, 4 yellow-red cards and one red card. That makes a total of 64 points for the cards. Right in front of them is MSV Duisburg, which has received 60 yellow cards, more than any other team. In the fairness table, Viktoria Cologne is ahead of Rot-Weiss Essen. Both conceded two sending-offs and, in comparison, very few yellow cards.
All-time table
In the all-time table, six teams currently in the 3rd division are among the top ten: Halle (3rd place), Unterhaching (4th place), Münster (6th place), Dresden (8th place), Saarbrücken (9th place) and MSV Duisburg (10th place). The current leader is the second division team SV Wehen Wiesbaden.
