SV Lippstadt are in a relegation spot at the winter break. But the sporting director is convinced that things will look different at the end of the season.
17 matches and only 13 points: no! It was not a good first half of the season for SV Lippstadt 08. And yet: the team proved in the last game of the year that SVL is not easy to beat.
Alemannia Aachen only managed to beat Lippstadt 2-1 in the eighth minute of injury time. As stupid as it sounds, even this knockout gives the Lippstadt team hope for the second part of the season.
Dirk Brökelmann on……
the first half of the season for SV Lippstadt 08: “It was a very mixed first half of the season, in which we learned the hard way with our young team and perhaps also reached our limits. But there were also good performances that were not rewarded. The boys are learning from week to week and that makes me confident too.”
… the best moment of the past season? “There were several great moments. I don’t want to pick out just one. We are seeing a clear development in the team, and we are also maturing. Again: I am confident that we can do it.”
… the worst moment of the first half of the season? “On December 9, around 4 p.m. at the Tivoli in Aachen, I thought to myself: ‘This is how bitter football can be’. It was the 98th minute in Aachen and Alemannia scored the 2-1 against us through Mika Hanraths. I just felt really sorry for our guys. They didn’t deserve that after that fight in front of 15,000 fans at the Tivoli. That was the most bitter moment of the first half of the season – and it also summed up our round a bit. Often we played well, fought and were left empty-handed after 90 or 98 minutes.”
… the goals for 2024: “That is clearly to avoid relegation. We also know that this will be anything but easy. But we will start the season full of optimism on January 2 and work hard. I am convinced that we will be above the line after 34 match days.”
