Rot-Weiss Essen II is the ultimate in the Essen Kreisliga B Group 1, the designated promoted team. This should continue in 2024.

15 games, 15 wins, 117:11 goals: the second team of Rot-Weiss Essen will – finally – be promoted to the Kreisliga A. And that in the third attempt.

Coach Stefan Lorenz and project manager Frank Kurth have put together a squad for the 2023/2024 season that can only beat itself in the Kreisliga B – the ninth highest division.

Stefan Lorenz on……

the first half of the season: “That was a sparkling first half of the season with over 100 goals. No other team in Essen has achieved that. I would say that this is a real scent mark. But, sure: we also know that this is only the Kreisliga B. Nevertheless, you have to get through the first half of the season like that. With Emre Kilic and Dominik Milaszewski, we also have the two top scorers. I hope the boys continue to duel each other out up front in the second half of the season (laughs). In any case, our plan has worked out. We also enjoy the support of the club and have the financial backing. If you want to get to the top as quickly as possible, you need these financial resources. That’s just the truth.”

What was your best moment?: “There wasn’t really just one moment. Maybe when we scored our 100th goal and broke through that barrier. Otherwise, every win is nice.

What was your worst moment?: ”The abandoned game in Dellwig was of course unnecessary – just an unpleasant moment. There will be a hearing at the district sports court in January. And the odd injury that takes a bit longer to recover from is always very frustrating.”

Goals for the new year 2024: ”The goal is clear: to break the 200-goal mark if possible and score as many goals as we did in the first half of the season. We want to win every game we play in the second half by an even bigger margin. That’s an internal goal. Personally, my goal is to remain completely unbeaten in 2024. That means in the district league A, of course. I set myself this goal as a coach and will use all means at my disposal to achieve it.”
