1. FC Bocholt is in first place in the Regionalliga West at the winter break. The new year should be a successful one for 1. FC.
1. FC Bocholt went into the winter break with 40 points after 19 matches.
The coach’s message – also to Aachen, Fortuna Cologne, Cologne II, Düren, Wuppertal and Oberhausen: Bocholt want to continue in 2024 – and win as many games as possible.
Dietmar Hirsch on…
… the first half of the season for 1. FC Bocholt: “Yes, the first half of the season was sensational. It was just incredible. We signed 17 new players and they quickly integrated. We quickly became a team and performed. It’s been a really great 19 match days so far. We want to continue here in the new year.”
… the best moment of the last round? “The 3-0 win against Alemannia Aachen was very emotional. The final score was too high in the end, but that didn’t matter to us. We won a top game in front of a sold-out house with lots of guest fans. That was definitely a highlight.”
… the worst moment of the first half of the season? “The 5-0 loss at Paderborn is still fresh in my mind. That was an abysmal performance. Fortunately, it was the only one this season so far. We immediately turned things around after that debacle and have almost never looked back.”
… the goals for 2024: “Our training start is scheduled for January 4th. Of course, we want to prepare ourselves so that we can continue to play at the top – for as long as possible. It’s fun to annoy the big players in the league. We want to continue that. I always say that we approach all of this with a controlled euphoria and continue to look from game to game. So far, we have done very well with that. And then there’s the Niederrhein Cup. The cup is a big goal for us. We want to take the trophy to Bocholt. If we beat Baumberg, which will be hard enough, we’ll have the chance to play the semi-final at home against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen. And, after all, anything’s possible at Hünting.”
