Wuppertaler SV went into the winter break with a 4-0 victory. The plan is to continue the positive trend in the new year.
After a turbulent week – Kevin Pytlik is no longer the captain and three suspensions – Wuppertaler SV went into the winter break with a 4-0 victory at Borussia Mönchengladbach II.
WSV went into the break nine points behind. The season had started so promisingly. 16 out of a possible 18 points were scored, followed by a run of five games without a win.
The last third of the first half of the season was even more turbulent. Hüzeyfe Dogan had to go. U19 coach Christian Britscho took over. In the new year, Ersan Parlatan will then take the reins.
For Gaetano Manno, the rise is far from over, as the sporting director explains in the forecasting interview.
Gaetano Manno on……
the first half of the season for Wuppertaler SV: “I think overall more would have been possible in terms of the league position. We just have to improve, get more consistency and then, I think, we will play a good second half of the season and attack again. Because we haven’t yet achieved what we set out to do.”…
the best moment of the last season? ”That was, of course, the 2-1 on the first match day in Aachen in front of 28,000 fans. It was simply sensational and, emotionally, hard to top. We were behind and then scored two goals in stoppage time to win. It was a dream start. After that, we took the euphoria with us and performed for six match days. Until we hit a rough patch.”…
the worst moment of the first half of the season? ”The 1-0 loss at SSVg Velbert was really bad. It was a derby and our fans were bitterly disappointed. Nothing went right in that game. We showed up without any body language. You can’t win a soccer game like that.”
… the goals for 2024: “I wish all the players good health. We want to prepare properly for the second half of the season from January 7, including a training camp in Turkey. We now have 15 finals ahead of us, a nine-point deficit, and we really have to treat every game as a final. If we win all the finals, we will achieve our goal.”
