Lex-Tyger Lobinger made the leap into the Bundesliga 2 via SG Wattenscheid 09 and Fortuna Düsseldorf II. Now, however, the striker has to find a new employer.
At the winter break, 1. FC Kaiserslautern are just one point above the relegation place in the Bundesliga 2. Not good enough for the club, which presented Dimitrios Grammozis as its new head coach at the beginning of December.
Accordingly, there will likely be some movement in the Red Devils squad – initially on the outgoing side, however. As reported by kicker, Lex-Tyger Lobinger has been released and will not travel to the winter training camp in Belek. Instead, the center forward is supposed to look for a new club.
Lobinger made it into the 2nd Bundesliga via the Regionalliga West. There he first gained his first minutes in the senior ranks for SG Wattenscheid 09 in 2018/19 (26 games, three goals), before moving to the Fortuna Düsseldorf second team a year later.
The 1.92-meter man didn’t score a single goal for Fortuna in his first year, but then he increased his goal average significantly. In 2020/21, he scored 11 goals in 29 games, followed by nine goals in just 16 appearances in 2021/22. His performances earned him a place among the professionals – he made a total of ten appearances for Düsseldorf in the 2nd Bundesliga, but remained without a goal in 81 minutes of action.
The breakthrough at Fortuna did not materialize, but Lobinger was able to recommend himself for a move to 1. FC Kaiserslautern. In his first year there, he still played regularly and made 29 second-division appearances, two of them from the start (two goals, two assists). This year, the attacker even started on the first matchday, but subsequently was often left out and has only six league appearances and no goals at the winter break. He now seems to no longer play a role under Grammozis.
A similar situation could arise for Terrence Boyd. The veteran’s contract is also to be terminated, according to “kicker”. However, Grammozis initially denied this on Tuesday.
Update: This afternoon, FCK presented two new signings. Winger Ba-Muaka Simakala is coming on loan from Holstein Kiel to the Betzenberg until the summer. In addition, right-back Frank Ronstadt is moving permanently from SV Darmstadt 98 to Kaiserslautern. This is the second time this winter that the second division club has struck at the Bundesliga promoted team. They had previously secured the loan of center forward Filip Stojilkovic.
