Borussia Dortmund will start their journey to the training camp on Wednesday, January 3. Some of the talented players around U17 world champion Paris Brunner will be there.
Borussia Dortmund began its winter preparations at the club’s home ground on Tuesday (January 2). The team will fly to Spain the following day. Edin Terzic’s team and the two new assistant coaches Nuri Sahin and Sven Bender will prepare at the training camp in Marbella from January 3 to 9.
Two international test matches are scheduled there. On January 6 (3:30 p.m.), the black-and-yellows will face Alkmaar in four 30-minute periods; three days later, on January 9 (11 a.m.), they will face Standard Liège before flying out.
31 players will make the trip south, including six youth players. Central defender Hendry Blank (19), full-back Guille Bueno (21), center player Kjell Wätjen (17), the two wingers Cole Campbell (17) and Samuel Bamba (19), and attacker Paris Brunner (17) are all on board. Goalkeeper Marcel Lotka (22), nominally listed in the professional squad but set in the second team, is also getting on the plane.
Not on the plane, however, are Ramy Bensebaini and Sebastien Haller, who will both be competing in the Africa Cup starting January 13 – Bensebaini and Algeria will face Angola, Burkina Faso and Mauritania in Group D, while Haller and host country Ivory Coast will face Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau and Nigeria in Group A.
