85-million departure before loan return to Borussia Dortmund

Jadon Sancho continues to be left out at Manchester United. A winter transfer could help – maybe back to BVB?

Jadon Sancho came to Manchester in 2021 with great expectations. The Englishman had developed into an absolute top player in four years at BVB and earned black and yellow a whopping €85 million. But the chapter at United went anything but as planned for the winger.

Two and a half years after his move, Sancho has made 82 competitive appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists. Since September, the 23-year-old has not even featured at all. Coach Erik ten Hag suspended the Englishman after his frustration post on social media and has not taken him back since.

A change in the winter seems to be the only way out – but where to? As “Sky” reported on Tuesday evening, a return to Borussia Dortmund is actually an option. According to this, BVB is already working on a six-month loan for Sancho, and the winger himself is open to a return to his old club. Accordingly, it is now up to United to decide whether the loan deal will go ahead.

114 scorer points in 137 games for BVB

In any case, Dortmund would not have much to lose – and maybe Sancho will even come close to regaining the form with which he once stirred up the Bundesliga. At just 17 years old, the man from Manchester City’s youth squad made his Bundesliga debut and soon became a permanent fixture in the starting lineup. In 137 competitive games, Sancho recorded a total of 114 scoring points (50 goals, 64 assists) for the black and yellow.

Neither Karim Adeyemi nor Donyell Malen were able to really convince on the Dortmund wing this year. Transfer rumors are also repeatedly swirling around the latter. Behind them lurk Julien Duranville, who was injured in the first half of the season, but who, at the age of 17, caused a sensation in the preparation for the season, and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, who has recently been regularly called up on the left wing.

However, the Dortmund wing players have only scored six goals and provided two assists in the Bundesliga so far – not enough. Sancho would give Terzic another option on both sides, who has already shown that she can create plenty of goal-scoring opportunities.
