Second division side Preußen Münster are desperate to secure their first home win of the season. Will a striker provide the spark they need?
While Preußen Münster worked on fine-tuning for the upcoming matches during the international break, one player gained a healthy dose of confidence. We are talking about András Németh.
The player, who joined the Eagles on loan from Hamburger SV on August 23, was nominated for the Hungarian U21 national team’s international matches. Németh had already been nominated during the last international break, but decided against traveling due to his recent transfer to Münster.
Now he was there – and that decision would more than pay off. The young striker not only celebrated two victories with Hungary’s U21 team in the European Championship qualifiers, he also scored a goal in both games. In the 2-1 home win against Malta, he scored with a precise right-footed shot to give his side a 1-0 lead, and in the following away game in Belgium, he converted a penalty to make it 1-0.
These were the 21-year-old’s ninth and tenth goals in the Hungarian U21 team jersey. Preußen fans will be hoping that the striker can break his duck at his new club. Németh is still waiting for his first goal for Münster. His record so far: seven competitive games, no goals, two assists.
Will Németh score his first goal against Elversberg?
With renewed confidence, the most valuable player in the Preußen squad (along with Jorrit Hendrix, both valued at €800,000) should now be able to score goals in the 2nd division. Ideally, this will happen on Saturday (October 19, 1 p.m.).
Then the second division newcomers will host SV Elversberg. Two narrow defeats in a row saw head coach Sascha Hildmann’s side slip into a relegation spot for the first time. The goal is clear: Münster wants to climb back above the line with its first home win of the season. Perhaps András Németh can play a key role in this mission.
