Oberliga club TSV Meerbusch is in eleventh place after eleven games. The most successful goal scorer is 18-year-old Bojan Potnar.
In the Oberliga Niederrhein, the striking duo of Arne Wessels and Conor Tönnies have been causing a stir since the start of the season. The two young attackers from SpVg Schonnebeck have already scored 23 goals between them this season, with Wessels leading the scoring charts with 17 goals.
However, there is another 18-year-old who has had a strong season so far: Bojan Potnar. The TSV Meerbusch striker has scored nine times in 14 competitive games, including six goals in the Oberliga. Potnar, who is studying business administration full-time, has only been playing for TSV Meerbusch since this season.
He previously played for VfB Hilden. As a youth, Potnar also spent six months training at Essen’s Hafenstraße. In the second half of the 2023/24 season, he scored five goals in twelve U19 Niederrheinliga matches for Rot-Weiss Essen.
In preparation for his first real Oberliga season in Meerbusch, the 18-year-old was trained for ten days in the summer by Armin Reutershahn, who most recently worked as assistant coach to Edin Terzic. Reutershahn’s son plays in the youth team in Meerbusch. Potnar’s agent, Musa Dedeeli, is very pleased with his protégé’s development.
“I discovered him in the summer during an U-game against Unterrath. Together with his parents, we have become a great team. Bojan is an extremely ambitious boy who works hard on himself. With his height of 1.92 meters and his athleticism, he is a difference maker who can hold the ball very well. He also has a very strong left foot. Coach Samir Sisic also thinks highly of him. In short, Bojan is a classic number nine, which is hard to find these days,” Dedeeli explained in an interview with Forecasting.
Meerbusch is the first point of contact, that’s clear. The next step in his development must be mutually agreed upon. Let’s see where the journey takes us.

RS has learned that Potnar’s performances have brought him into the spotlight and attracted interest from several clubs. There are reportedly already initial inquiries from German professional clubs and Croatian first division teams. However, it is still unclear where the talented striker, whose contract in Meerbusch expires at the end of the season, will end up. His agent is also keeping his options open:
“Bojan has the potential to compete at the professional level. He is very down-to-earth and always asks me for advice on what he needs to work on. Meerbusch is the first point of contact, that’s clear. The next step in his development must be mutually agreed upon. Let’s see where the journey takes us.”
