The regional leagues in Germany are underway and the first strikers are making a name for themselves. One is leading the way nationwide.
The Regionalliga West certainly cannot be accused of having a striker problem. Noah Pesch’s nine goals in eleven games for Borussia Mönchengladbach II are simply too good for that. The attacking player leads the league’s scoring charts.
He is followed by Moritz Stoppelkamp (Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, seven goals) and Enzo Wirtz (Eintracht Hohkeppel, seven goals). The best individual performer plays elsewhere. With 14 goals in 15 games, Nikky Goguadze is keeping Bremer SV afloat in the Regionalliga Nord.
“We play courageous, attacking soccer. Unfortunately, in the games so far, we have repeatedly lacked cleverness against the ball and also the necessary luck,” he told ‘kicker.’ On the last matchday, Goguadze scored twice but was unable to prevent a 2-3 defeat against Werder Bremen II.
Bremer SV is bottom of the Regionalliga Nord. Where would the Hanseatic club be without Goguadze? It’s anyone’s guess. “Patience, unity, and belief in our own strengths. At some point, it will pay off and luck will be on our side again,” said the striker.
His strengths? “I thrive on duels and get by on my robustness. That’s why I also like to work hard at the back.” He also said he is “not a cerebral player and doesn’t think too far ahead.” On the upcoming match day, Bremen will once again be relying on their goal scorer. They face SV Todesfelde, who are three points ahead and one place above them in the table. A win would be a great opportunity for Bremer SV to move out of 17th place.
