Fortuna Cologne comes back from 0:3 – Velbert suffers a crushing blow

Fortuna Cologne comes back from a three-goal deficit, SSVg Velbert throws away a victory: Friday’s matches on the 15th matchday of the Regionalliga West.

What a game! Fortuna Cologne turned a 0-3 deficit against Borussia Mönchengladbach II into a 4-3 victory on Friday evening!

It was clear early on that this game would not be a defensive battle. Shio Fukuda took advantage of a lapse in concentration after eight minutes to put the Foals 1-0 up.

In the 31st minute, the Japanese player appeared in a dangerous position again and made it 2-0 (31′). Shortly afterwards, his strike partner Mika Schroers even increased the lead to 3-0 (41′), which caused excitement among coach Markus von Ahlen’s team due to a supposed foul in the build-up.

Fortuna did not give up, however. Leon Demaj scored the first goal just before the break (45th minute). The foundation for the comeback was laid.

Marvin Mika reduced the deficit to 2-3 with a spectacular goal after an hour (59th minute), before Dominik Lanius made it 3-3 (80th minute). But Fortuna wanted more. And Fortuna got more.

In the 90th minute, Mika broke through and crossed into the middle. The first attempt was blocked, but then Kingsley Sarpei scored the celebrated 4-3! Thanks to a tremendous effort, Fortuna Köln climbs to within three points of leaders Bocholt, but has played one game more.

SSVg Velbert suffers late blow

SSVg Velbert dropped two important points in the battle against relegation at home against SC Paderborn II in the last second.

Ilyas Ansah scored the 1-0 for the visitors after half an hour (30th minute). But less than five minutes later, Timo Mehlich turned the game around with a brace (32nd and 34th minutes).

The hosts were on course for three important points until Martin Ens scored in the final seconds to make it 2-2. Velbert remain in second-last place in the Regionalliga West, eleven points adrift of safety.

Fortuna Düsseldorf II and Schalke II share the points.

The second teams of Fortuna Düsseldorf and FC Schalke 04 shared the points with a 1-1 draw.

Düsseldorf took the lead after 17 minutes. However, Andreas Ivan equalized with a penalty in stoppage time at the end of the first half.

Alemannia Aachen and FC Gütersloh win

Alemannia Aachen is back on the winning track after a 0-3 defeat against 1. FC Bocholt. At their home stadium, Tivoli, the Kaiserstädter secured a 1-0 victory against SC Wiedenbrück. Anton Heinz scored the goal of the day in the 18th minute with a rebound.

In the last game of the evening, FC Gütersloh prevailed 2-1 (2-0) against SV Rödinghausen. Patrik Twardzik (25th minute) and Jeffrey Obst (35th minute) put their team on the road to victory in the first half. The visitors’ comeback attempt was unsuccessful.
