Daughter, starting lineup, goal, home win – Terodde’s perfect week

It was an emotional weekend for Simon Terodde of Schalke 04. After the birth of his daughter, the striker scored a goal and secured a home win.

There was great relief at FC Schalke 04. The second division side had little trouble against VfL Osnabrück and won the six-point game against the bottom team in the table 4-0. (To the match report)

For one Schalke player in particular, the home win was a special occasion. “It was a very, very emotional game, I think you could see that,” captain Simon Terodde admitted openly in a Sky interview after the game.

The striker had been in the hospital the day before the game to witness the birth of his daughter Tilda. No wonder the now father of three had tears in his eyes as he celebrated his goal to make it 3-0 and greeted his new addition to the family.

“It’s been an emotional few days. When you’re in the delivery room yesterday and your daughter is born, and then today you’re standing on the pitch after a very, very difficult few weeks,” said Terodde, giving an insight into his feelings. ‘But yesterday you experience such a feeling of happiness, it’s indescribable. And then to win here like this…’

And the goal scorer knew who he had to thank. “Huge compliments to my wife for how she handled things yesterday. We’re all healthy,” Terodde said proudly and happily. “Now the icing on the cake is the three points.”

With these points behind him, the striker can enjoy his family’s happiness a little more relaxed this weekend and see how the competition at the bottom of the table reacts. “That was a tough opponent for us today. The win was so important because you were able to pull away a little bit after some difficult weeks,” emphasized the 35-year-old.

The victory against VfL was never really in danger, with Osnabrück looking alarmingly harmless. S04 also outfought the Lower Saxony side, as Terodde emphasized: “Sure, people want to see virtues, and I think we showed those well on the pitch today, which is why we’re taking the good feeling with us.”
