In the Oberliga Westfalen derby between ASC Dortmund and TuS Bövinghausen, the favorites from Aplerbeck came out on top with a 2-0 victory.
ASC Dortmund won the Dortmund city derby against TuS Bövinghausen in true top-flight fashion. In a tough game, the second-placed team in the Oberliga Westfalen came out on top with a confident 2-0 victory.
ASC newcomer Semin Kojic scored the 1-0 in the first half (25th minute). After the break, Maximilian Podehl (70th minute) sealed the deal.
“You could see the experience and individual class of the opposition in both goals. Nevertheless, I have to pay my team a huge compliment. The whole team trained really well and was well prepared for the game. We will continue to improve in the next few games and see the quality we bring to the pitch,” said a not entirely dissatisfied visiting coach Danny Voß.
The TuS team had been almost completely rebuilt. With 17 departures, the team had been completely revamped and thrown together. In return, the visitors put in a strong fighting performance and stood up to the second-placed team in the league.
ASC coach Marco Stiepermann also praised this: “I don’t know how Bövinghausen will continue, but that was a decent performance for such a motley crew that has only been together for a few days. They will be able to cause a few teams in the league some trouble.”
The player-coach is also satisfied with his team’s performance: “I would say it was a good hard-fought victory. I demanded from the boys what they delivered on the pitch. As always, we were compact in defense. We played almost flawlessly, didn’t give anything away and lived up to our role as favorites.”
While ASC consolidates its second place in the league, level on points with leaders Lotte, Bövinghausen remains in tenth place, at least for one night. Following the squad overhaul, the goal was set to avoid relegation.
Voß is sticking to this plan even after the match against ASC: “I think anyone who was at the game and saw the passion and discipline on display saw that. You can’t get everything perfect in such a short time of two and a half weeks. That goes without saying. From what I’ve seen, I’m 100 percent convinced that we’ll stay in the league.”
