SG Wattenscheid 09 has started preparations for the new season. One striker was not allowed to take part in the opening session.
With all eleven new signings in attendance, SG Wattenscheid 09 completed its first training session on Wednesday evening in preparation for the new season in the Oberliga Westfalen. There was no place for David Loheider. The striker was absent from coach Christopher Pache’s training session. The reason: Loheider is set to leave the club. According to SGW, the club’s management informed the 34-year-old during the summer break that he could “look for a new club due to a lack of playing time.” Until Loheider has found a new club, he will no longer be allowed to play for the Oberliga team. Instead, Loheider will take part in the second team’s training sessions and friendly matches, according to Wattenscheid. The “second team” played in the Kreisliga C last season and finished third. Meanwhile, a trial player was present on Wednesday. Center back Mats Brämer wants to prove himself in the coming days in order to earn a contract. The 22-year-old most recently played college soccer in the USA and previously gained Oberliga experience for Türkspor Dortmund and TuS Bövinghausen (18 games).
Brämer will also play in the first test matches against Schwarz-Weiß 08 Wattenschied on Friday (7 p.m.) and two days later against Schwarz-Weiß Eppendorf (5 p.m.).
