BVB loans former MSV talent Mogultay abroad

Just a year ago, Baran Mogultay moved from MSV Duisburg to Borussia Dortmund’s U23 team. However, he will not be joining them in the Regionalliga. After MSV Duisburg was relegated to the Regionalliga a year ago, the talented left-back moved to Borussia Dortmund’s U23 team – and was also relegated from the 3rd division with BVB.

However, Mogultay will not be part of the squad that will start the Regionalliga season at the end of the month under coach Mike Tullberg with the aim of securing promotion. The 21-year-old has left BVB, at least temporarily. Mogultay is moving to Turkey on a one-year loan. There he will join first division club Alanyaspor. The Süper Lig club also secured an option to buy Mogultay. The winger’s contract in Dortmund runs until 2027. At Alanyaspor, Mogultay will be reunited with coach Joao Pereira, a former Portuguese international (40 caps) who also spent a brief spell in Germany with Hannover 96 during his playing career. Right-back Batuhan Yavuz is another former MSV Duisburg talent in the squad. Alanyaspor finished last season in twelfth place and will start the new season on August 9.
Mogultay made the leap to the professional team at the Zebras in 2022. He quickly established himself as a regular player and played 44 competitive games before being dropped at the beginning of 2024 and not playing again in the second half of the season before relegation.

After joining BVB, Mogultay was a regular starter. He also made his debut for the Turkish U21 national team last fall and has played six games since then. However, his playing time has decreased since February, and he was hardly considered in the final weeks of the season.

Now he has moved on loan to the Turkish Mediterranean coast. The Ahlen-born player can look forward to a highlight right at the start of the season: an away game at Fenerbahçe Istanbul with legendary coach José Mourinho.
