The KFC Uerdingen squad is getting another addition, and Sunday’s season opener will feature more than just a test match against Ennepetal.
This Sunday (August 3), Lower Rhine Oberliga club KFC Uerdingen will kick off its season.
Admission is free and the event kicks off at 12:30 p.m., with an opportunity to meet the players up close. Two groups of 20 fans will have the chance to take a short tour of the Grotenburg stadium at 12:45 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Both stadium tours with Werner Vollack are already fully booked. Those responsible are working on a solution to be able to offer something like this on a permanent basis during the current season. From 2 p.m., the event will continue with interviews and quiz rounds. At around 2:30 p.m., the new main sponsor will be announced, and at 3 p.m., KFC will play against TuS Ennepetal from the Oberliga Westfalen.
After the 90 minutes, the action continues: KFC players Kingsley Marcinek and Etienne-Noel Reck will take on a challenge with YouTuber “Coach Emre” (Bora-Emre Dogan).
Another new player for the KFC Uerdingen squad
Mustafa Doganci, a product of Krefeld’s youth system, will officially join the traditional club’s squad on Sunday. He has been playing for the youth teams at Löschenhofweg since the D-Jugend (under-10s). “Mustafa has been training with us throughout the entire preseason and has also played in every test match. It’s hard to believe that he’s still a U19 player and could play there for another year, because he impresses in every training session with his speed and ball control. This is exactly the path we need to take in the future, integrating talented players into our everyday routine,” emphasizes Uerdingen coach Julian Stöhr.
KFC sporting director Michael Nagorny is also full of praise and sees this as a clear sign. “This is a signal to all youth players. They should see that with a lot of commitment and determination, the door to the top is open. That’s exactly what we stand for.”
