Sportclub Verl is showing a lot of empathy. After a cruciate ligament rupture, SCV has now extended the contract with its injured player. Sportclub Verl has prematurely extended the current contract with Alem Japaur by another year until June 30, 2027.
The 1.92-meter-tall center forward joined the Sportclub Arena in the summer of 2025 from Würzburger Kickers and got off to a promising start with two goals in four test matches.
Then came the big setback: after a tackle in training, the 21-year-old offensive player suffered a cruciate ligament rupture and has already undergone successful surgery.

Alem Japaur
Japaur is currently working hard off the pitch to get back to full fitness as quickly as possible. Now the third division club’s management has shown a lot of empathy and extended his contract. Zlatko Janjic, sporting director at the club, said of the extension: “We quickly realized that Alem is a perfect fit for our club, both on and off the pitch. When I see how hard Alem works every day, it’s more than commendable. By extending his contract, we are giving him the time he needs to recover fully. We remain 100% convinced of his qualities and will support him in every way possible on his road to recovery. Everyone at the club is looking forward to seeing him back on the pitch.”
Japaur said of the early extension: “I am delighted about the trust the club has placed in me and will continue to work hard to get back on the pitch as soon as possible. Everyone at the club supports me and I really enjoy being part of this team.”
Sportclub Verl started the season with two 2-2 draws. On the first matchday, they drew with SV Waldhof Mannheim, and on the second matchday, the East Westphalians drew 2-2 with SV Wehen Wiesbaden. Next weekend (Saturday, August 23, 2 p.m.), they will face VfB Stuttgart’s second team.
