SV Eintracht Hohkeppel will kick off the 2025/2026 Mittelrheinliga season on the last weekend of August. The club is now looking for a new head coach.
The club has already proven in the past that the coaching fuse is relatively short at SV Eintracht Hohkeppel. Iraklis Metaxas was even dismissed on match day.
With Pablo González-Huerta, the aim was to achieve immediate promotion after relegation from the Regionalliga West.“He is a coach who wants to work with us to build a sustainable structure,” emphasized Kevin Theisen, Eintracht’s sporting director, at the beginning of May 2025. He added: “After intensive discussions, we made a conscious decision to hire him. And for the following reasons: He is a coach who wants to work with us to build a sustainable structure. He is committed to continuous development, places particular emphasis on training and promoting young players, and stands for long-term stability within the club.”
Around three months later, González-Huerta is no longer Hohkeppel’s coach. The Spanish-born coach surprisingly announced his resignation.“The timing—just ten days before the start of the new Oberliga Mittelrhein season—is certainly not ideal, but we respect his decision and thank him for his openness in dealing with it,” the club said in a statement.
Helge Hohl, former coach of SV Bergisch Gladbach 09 and Alemannia Aachen, is now being touted as the new coach in Hohkeppel.
Eintracht is still looking for a coach, but has already presented two new players. 23-year-old Ferhat Saglam will strengthen Eintracht Hohkeppel’s offense. The striker has played 18 international matches for Liechtenstein and even scored a goal in the Nations League against Gibraltar. “Ferhat knows where the goal is and will help us in offense in the long term. He has already gained a lot of experience for his young age,” said sporting director Theisen.
In addition, Yusuf Wardak has been loaned from third division club Waldhof Mannheim for one year. Theisen: “Yusuf is a real street footballer and has never been in a youth academy. That’s what makes him special. We hope he will continue to develop with us.”
