Top transfers get their chance – this is how the team is likely to line up in Wiesbaden

Rot-Weiss Essen will be playing away at SV Wehen Wiesbaden on Friday evening (August 22, 7 p.m.). There will be some changes to the team that played against BVB. This match kicks off the third matchday of the 3rd league on Friday evening (August 22, 7 p.m.). After the DFB Cup fight against Borussia Dortmund (0-1), RWE coach Uwe Koschinat has little reason to make any changes. The team delivered despite being eliminated by the Champions League participant.

However, the RWE squad has a number of personnel options available this season. Unlike last season, the starting eleven is not a foregone conclusion. Koschinat has a lot of quality in his squad and is spoiled for choice.

Forecasting has now learned that the Essen coach will give his two top transfers a chance from the start at SV Wehen Wiesbaden. Luca Bazzoli is set to replace red-and-white captain Michael Schultz in central defense, while Marvin Obuz will move into the starting eleven in place of Kaito Mizuta.
Bazzoli joined the club in the summer of 2025 from SC Preußen Münster, and Marvin Obuz returned to Hafenstraße from 1. FC Köln. Both are big hopes for the red and white, but have not yet been used as much as desired.Luca is equally strong in two positions and expands our options. He is unlucky that Michael Schultz and Klaus Gjasula, who is currently indispensable, are performing so well. Bazzoli is not far from the starting eleven, though; it’s just that we have a lot of competition.”

Fan favorite Obuz also has everything he needs at Koschinat, except a free pass. The 23-year-old offensive player has to fight his way into the team. Koschinat explains: “Things are different with Marvin. He wasn’t available to us during the intense test match phase. He also didn’t have any rhythm from last season. In addition, players in his position have set the bar very high—Kaito Mizuta, for example. I can see that Marvin has worked on his physical condition. He now has to wait for his chance and, when it comes, seize it.”

Now the moment has arrived: Both of RWE’s top transfers are set to get a chance from the start on Friday evening at SV Wehen Wiesbaden – and, ideally from Essen’s point of view, make the most of it.
