Viktoria Cologne has once again made some impressive additions to its squad. On the last day of the transfer window, two new players from the higher leagues arrived at Höhenberg.
That’s two more signings for Viktoria Cologne: Joel Agyekum and Frank Ronstadt are joining Höhenberg on loan.
Agyekum is a 20-year-old, 1.90-meter-tall center back from Hamburger SV. “I’m delighted that the loan deal was finalized at short notice before the end of the transfer window. Joel is a player who can play in both a back three and a back four. He is still young, but has already proven his qualities. That’s why I’m sure he’ll play an important role for us. I would like to take this opportunity to thank HSV for their uncomplicated cooperation. Now we’re looking forward to Joel and to him giving his all for Viktoria,” said Cologne’s sporting director Stephan Küsters.
The defender joined HSV at the age of twelve, where he played for all the NLZ teams up to the U23s. The German-Ghanaian already has 31 Regionalliga appearances to his name (2 goals, 1 assist). In the current season, he has played three full games for the U23s.
The robust and tall (1.90 meters) left-footed player can play both as a center back and a full-back. For Marian Wilhelm, the two-time German U18 international is another option for the defense.
“I’m very happy to be here. It’s an exciting challenge for me to be part of a strong team in the 3. Liga,” said Agyekum.
Frank Ronstadt is an experienced second division player who has joined on loan from 1. FC Kaiserslautern. The 28-year-old plays at right back. Ronstadt moved from SV Darmstadt 98 to Betzenberg in January 2024. After initially playing regularly for the Red Devils, he had to take a break at the start of last season and also at the start of the new season due to injury. With the loan to Viktoria Cologne, Ronstadt should be able to return to regular playing time.
