Third division leaders MSV Duisburg have made another move in the transfer market, signing a striker from abroad.
Andy Visser, a striker from the Netherlands, is transferring to MSV Duisburg. He will wear the number 30 jersey for the Zebras. The 20-year-old has played for Vitesse Arnhem since 2023 and has been without a club since the traditional club had its license revoked. In addition to nine appearances in the Eredivisie, he has played 30 games in the second-tier Keuken Kampioen Divisie.
Chris Schmoldt, MSV’s sporting director, says: “We have been able to watch Andy several times. At 1.93 meters tall, he has a very exciting striker profile, covers a lot of ground and has very decent speed. Above all, he plays with a lot of determination and ambition. We see potential in him to make his mark in the long run and are delighted that he has decided to move to Duisburg.“
Coach Dietmar Hirsch adds: ”In Andy, we are getting a young striker with a lot of development potential. We want to introduce him to the third division, but with his physical robustness, strong left foot, and good pace, he will already be fueling the competition up front.”
The 1.93-meter Visser, who has previously played for Vitesse Arnhem, MASV Arnhem, and VV Dieren, is looking forward to joining MSV Duisburg. Visser: “It’s a great feeling to be here, and I’m looking forward to the club, the fans, and the city. It’s just the right fit for me, and I’m convinced that moving to MSV is the right step for my personal development.”
MSV Duisburg: Jonas Michelbrink to Fortuna Cologne
Meanwhile, MSV Duisburg has parted ways with Jonas Michelbrink, who is immediately returning to action with an ambitious regional league club: Fortuna Cologne.
The midfielder has not played in the four games so far, with coach Dietmar Hirsch having no use for the 24-year-old, who made 23 appearances (one goal, seven assists) in the promotion year. He was also a regular in the third division in the relegation year before that, making 26 appearances.
But now his situation at Wedau has deteriorated, so it comes as no surprise that he terminated his contract on deadline day and is leaving Duisburg after almost three years.
“I’m looking forward to the new challenge at Fortuna Cologne, to the fans at the Südstadion, and I hope to be able to contribute my promotion experience from last year,” said Michelbrink.
