The second team of regional league club Rot-Weiß Oberhausen has secured its next victory in Kreisliga B.
Two games, two wins: The new Rot-Weiß Oberhausen II team also secured three points in their second game of the season, winning 2-1 in their home debut against Blau-Weiß Fuhlenbrock’s second team. From the start, the Red and Whites took control. The first shot on goal came after just 15 seconds – a preview of many more chances to come. As in the previous week, they created numerous opportunities, but there was always a body part, the aluminum, or the strong saves of the visiting keeper in the way.
But then the inevitable happened: after an individual error, a visiting player found himself free in front of goal and put Fuhlenbrock 1-0 up. The Red and Whites were not deterred and repeatedly combined with impressive short passing to get into the penalty area – but the equalizer was a long time coming.
In the 36th minute, Marcel Parak took heart and placed the ball beautifully into the corner from 20 meters to equalize.
After the break, the Kleeblatt team pushed even harder for the winning goal. Again and again, RWO Zwei failed to get past the strong Blau-Weiß goalkeeper.
“I don’t know how many times we came close to celebrating in this game, but the goalkeeper was really strong. We just need to break the deadlock – then I’m sure our attack will score many more goals,” said Abel.
In the 53rd minute, the moment finally arrived: Melo Qureshi took the ball at the edge of the box after a corner and skillfully slotted it in to make it 2-1. Even after that, it was almost exclusively RWO Reserve who played: there were plenty of chances, but the third goal just wouldn’t come. So the game ended in front of over 160 spectators with a deserved 2-1 win for the Kleeblatt team.
Outlook: On Sunday (September 7), a real Ruhrpott derby awaits: Our Kleeblätter are away at SF 08/21 Bottrop – on classic red ash! Kick-off is at 3 p.m. at the sports facility on Paßstraße in Bottrop.
