Ten players left Rot-Weiß Oberhausen during the 2025 summer transfer window. We took a look at how the former Kleeblätter are doing at their new clubs.
No, Rot-Weiß Oberhausen’s plan did not work out after the upheaval with 13 arrivals and ten departures. The start of the season was botched. RWO is lagging far behind the leaders in the Regionalliga West and must first try to get out of the danger zone. Ten departures from the club are a little too many. Especially since some of the top performers from last season have also left. Forecasting took a look at how the former Oberhausen players are doing at their new clubs – here is an overview: Timur Mehmet Kesim (Hertha BSC II): RWO had long fought for the services of the striker, who then decided to move to the capital. Things are not going well for Kesim here. The 21-year-old striker has not yet played for Hertha’s reserve team. The reason: Kesim has been injured since pre-season. It is not known when last year’s 15-goal man from Oberhausen will be available to the Berliners again.
Tarsis Bonga (Würzburger Kickers):
Things are going very differently and much better for Tarsis Bonga in the Bavarian regional league. With Würzburger Kickers, the 28-year-old has been in the promotion race since the start of the season. And Bonga is a key player. This is underlined by his four goals in six games so far. Denis Donkor (TSG Hoffenheim II): Former RWO winger Denis Donkor still has to get used to his new surroundings and a new league. The 21-year-old has only played eight minutes for the third division reserve team of Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim so far. By comparison, his RWO statistics from 2024/2025 are: 33 games, two goals, 13 assists. Kerem Yalcin (SC Paderborn II): Kerem Yalcin seems to have made the right decision with his transfer. The defensive specialist has made four Regionalliga appearances and scored one goal for Paderborn. Better still, the 20-year-old was included in the matchday squad for the SCP pros’ last second division games against Fortuna Düsseldorf and 1. FC Nürnberg. Cottrell Ezekwem (SV Rödinghausen): He once joined RWO as a center back and then left Lindnerstraße in the summer of 2025 as a striker for SV Rödinghausen. He has yet to score a single goal for SVR in six games. Still, Cottrell Ezekwem has scored twice in two Westphalia Cup matches. Diamant Berisha (Sportfreunde Lotte): The offensive player has yet to move beyond the role of reserve at Lotter Kreuz. He has made three appearances in the league so far, without scoring or assisting. In the Westphalia Cup, he has matched Ezekwem’s record: two appearances, two goals. Jonah Husseck (TSG Sprockhövel): The 21-year-old center back is recovering from a meniscus injury and has not yet played.
Ozan Hot (1. FC Kaiserslautern II):
The 20-year-old has established himself in the FCK reserves and is an integral part of the Oberliga team. He has made five appearances as a center back in five games – three times for the full 90 minutes and twice for 45 minutes. Leon Kayser (SC Preußen Münster II): The right winger has made two appearances totaling 110 minutes for Preußen’s reserve team, which plays in the Oberliga Westfalen. At least Kayser has already contributed one assist.
Robin Benz (destination unknown):
The 29-year-old goalkeeper, who has played 76 times for RWO, is still looking for a new club.
