What worked in the league also worked in the Lower Rhine Cup. KFC Uerdingen confidently advanced to the round of 16.
There are opponents that you just seem to have an easy time with. SV Biemenhorst seems to be one such opponent for KFC Uerdingen.
Just a few weeks ago, KFC defeated SV Biemenhorst 6-1 in the Oberliga Niederrhein. Now, in the second round of the Lower Rhine Cup, it was once again a clear-cut affair in the duel between the two Oberliga teams.
With a 3-0 (2-0) victory, Uerdingen quickly set the course for the round of 16. Alexander Lipinski scored the first goal after just eleven minutes. Mohamed Benktib made it 2-0 after 15 minutes. Bathuan Özden crossed from the right, where Benktip got to the ball at the second attempt and scored with a spectacular volley.
As KFC missed further chances, the score remained 2-0 at half-time. After the break, the visitors tried two substitutions, but Biemenhorst never really looked dangerous. After 67 minutes, the game was decided. Lipinski provided the assist, and Ephraim Kalonji rose high in the middle to head home and make it 3-0. Krefeld then saw out the rest of the game without any problems.
In the Oberliga, KFC Uerdingen will continue their campaign on Saturday (September 13, 4 p.m.) at SC St. Tönis. SV Biemenhorst will travel to VfB Homberg on Sunday (September 14, 3 p.m.).
