Five games, five wins, 29:2 goals – RWO II marches toward promotion

Rot-Weiß Oberhausen II has been reformed to achieve promotion to Kreisliga A. The Shamrocks have gotten off to an excellent start.

Head coach Günter Abel’s team continues its winning streak: with a clear 6:0 victory at SV Bottrop 1911, the Kreisliga B reserve team of regional league club Rot-Weiß Oberhausen demonstrated not only its offensive strength, but above all its defensive stability – it was already the third game in a row without conceding a goal.

After just three minutes, Moritz Wegener scored the 1-0 after a strong pass into the box from Chris Harder. What followed was déjà vu from the first two match days: RWO II dominated the game and created numerous chances, but the ball just wouldn’t go in.

“We showed some very good moves and always had the urge to score goals. But the ball just wouldn’t go in. Last week, you could see the absolute determination in every player – this time, that body language was missing a little. We simply have to take advantage of 100% chances,” said RWO II coach Abel, annoyed at the missed opportunities.

Shortly before the half-time whistle, Florian Abel broke the spell: he hammered the ball under the crossbar with full force – 2-0 at half-time. After the break, Günter Abel brought on fresh legs, including Thore Pomorin, who would go on to be the match winner. Just a few minutes after coming on, Pomorin made a strong run down the right wing and delivered a pinpoint cross to Phillip Klempel, who headed home to make it 3-0. Ten minutes later, the scene was repeated – this time Klempel slotted the ball home with his foot to make it 4-0.

The Red and Whites now made up for their earlier missed chances: Wegener made it 5-0 after a fine move. Pomorin himself put the icing on the cake when he crowned his strong performance with a beautiful goal into the corner to make it 6-0.

“We now have maximum points, have conceded only two goals and, despite many missed chances, have already scored 29 goals. That speaks for a good team performance. We are on the right track and will certainly become even more consistent,” said Abel after the fifth win in five games and 29:2 goals.

Rot-Weiß Oberhausen II will continue their campaign next Sunday (September 28, 11 a.m.) against Adler Oberhausen’s second team. The game will be played at Concordiastraße 55 in Oberhausen.
