FC Schalke 04 celebrated another home victory on Friday evening. A 1-0 win against Greuther Fürth was enough to secure three points.
The Veltins Arena celebrated the team and FC Schalke 04. Their favorites cemented their good start to the season and secured another victory.
On match day 7, Spielvereinigung Greuther Fürth was defeated 1-0. Schalke now has a whopping 15 points after seven games.
The more than 60,000 spectators at Schalke saw a strong performance from Miron Muslic’s team.
“I think that was our strongest performance in recent weeks. Not only did we have a clear plan, the right structure and organization, but we also dominated in all phases of the game. We were very difficult to play against and very well prepared when we had possession.
We did an excellent job in the first half and created chances to score. When we lost the ball, we were incredibly aggressive and took away Fürth’s counterattacks with our counter-pressing,“ analyzed the Schalke coach. ”The message at halftime was to keep a cool head and not stray from the structure – a goal would come.
We then created chances in the second half without losing our defensive compactness. Then we took a well-deserved lead. What happened in the last seven or eight minutes happens in every league in the world when the score is only 1-0. The opponent goes all in, but we still kept a clean sheet and didn’t allow anything except for a header. So it was a strong team performance,” Muslic continued.
Fürth coach Thomas Kleine was disappointed. After the fourth defeat of the season – compared to three wins – he summed up: “It was a deserved victory for Schalke. We’re not entirely satisfied with the game and weren’t able to repeat our strong performance in Bielefeld. We had a lot of misplaced passes and made some bad decisions, which made it easy for Schalke. With the fans behind them, they pinned us back. Nevertheless, we went into halftime with a flattering 0-0 score. In a situation where we failed to follow up, Schalke deservedly took the lead. In the end, we tried everything, but only woke up in the last quarter of an hour.”
