At the end of the ninth match day, SSV Ulm celebrated a goal fest against promoted Schweinfurt on Wednesday evening. Osnabrück also celebrated three points, while 1860 scored with a man advantage.
Rot-Weiss Essen redeemed itself after its 1-6 defeat against Waldhof Mannheim, winning 3-1 (2-0) at home against TSG Hoffenheim’s second team in the 3rd league on Wednesday evening.
In their first game since the double dismissal of head coach Patrick Glöckner and managing director Dr. Christian Werner, TSV 1860 Munich drew 2-2 with Viktoria Cologne. The Lions showed their comeback qualities, as they were already 0-2 down after eight minutes. But a yellow-red card for Cologne’s Lars Dietz (36th minute) brought 1860 back into the game. First, Max Christiansen scored the equalizer before the break (41st minute), then at the start of the second half, substitute Patrick Hobsch made it 2-2 (52nd minute). Ultimately, however, the Lions failed to capitalize on their long period of numerical superiority. VfL Osnabrück earned a deserved 2-0 home win against SSV Jahn Regensburg. Fridolin Wagner (27′) and Patrick Kammerbauer (64′) were the goalscorers at the Bremer Brücke, handing Regensburg their sixth defeat of the current season.
FC Ingolstadt secured a point at SC Verl in the dying moments of the game. Simon Lorenz scored in the sixth minute of stoppage time to make it 2-2. Jonas Arweiler had previously put the Sportclub on course for victory in the 88th minute.
After a 5-1 home defeat to Aachen, 1. FC Schweinfurt also suffered a heavy defeat at SSV Ulm. Once again, the result was 5-1 from the Schnüdel’s perspective, who remain at the bottom of the table. Dennis Chessa (14th minute), Niklas Kölle (20th and 77th minutes), Elias Löder (72nd minute) and Lucas Röser (84th minute) secured the Spatzen’s resounding victory. Joshua Endres (17th minute) had scored the temporary 1-1 equalizer.
The 3rd league continues on Friday with the 10th match day. It will kick off with the match between league leaders MSV Duisburg and Hansa Rostock (October 3, 7 p.m.).
