Rene Lewejohann has done it again. He once more allowed himself to be accompanied by a camera crew from Zeigler’s Wonderful World of Soccer.
It was an exciting Sunday for René Lewejohann and his boys from Rot Weiss Ahlen.
First, the Oberliga team secured an important point against relegation in the third minute of injury time. And late in the evening, the team appeared on Arnd Zeigler’s show “Wunderbare Welt des Fußballs” (The Wonderful World of Soccer) on WDR television.
With Lewejohann’s signing, a certain glamour factor has also moved into the Münsterland region. After his legendary ravioli interview as coach of KFC Uerdingen, the TV personality promised to visit Lewejohann at his new club as well.
Last week, during the district cup match at TuS Wadersloh, the time had come. Zeigler accompanied the coach every step of the way and also reported from the locker room. This allowed television viewers to get an idea of the narrow victory over the district league team.
After trailing 0-1 at halftime, things got uncomfortable for the Rot Weiss Ahlen players. “There’s no sugarcoating it. And you have yourselves to blame for getting to this point,” Lewejohann said in an emotional appearance. “You now have 45 minutes to turn this around. And I want to see a reaction.” In the end, RW Ahlen won narrowly 8-7 on penalties. On Sunday afternoon, RWA also made it exciting. It was only in injury time that Tim Walter Breuer scored the equalizer to make it 2-2 at SG Finnentrop/Bamenohl.
Gordon Meyer had put the hosts ahead (22nd minute), but Louis Krieg equalized after an hour. Leandro Fünfsinn then put the Sauerland team back in front ten minutes before the end.
But Ahlen had the lucky punch. Breuer equalized again in the third minute of extra time. The late point earned means that the team from Wersestadt has now climbed out of the relegation zone with eight points. Ahlen is now in 17th place in the table. And was able to switch on the TV a little more relaxed in the evening.
