Energie Cottbus pulled off a spectacular 4-3 win over TSV Havelse. Despite temporarily topping the table, coach Claus-Dieter “Pele” Wollitz isn’t happy.
Energie Cottbus has secured the top spot in the 3rd division – but not in the way coach Claus-Dieter “Pele” Wollitz would have liked. The 4-3 win against TSV Havelse was far more spectacular than he would have liked.
“Before the game and at halftime, I said: We just have to win this game. The way we played in the first 10 minutes. Do you have the right mindset or not? Do you underestimate your opponent or not? The goal was to win this game together. You can see from the goals we conceded that it’s too easy. We’re not focused enough. Sometimes I don’t understand why we struggle so much in these games,“ he said angrily on ”Magenta Sport.”
He continued: “You think you can just win games like that. But you can’t. It’s a shame because I think the character of the team is exceptionally good. I don’t want to be a results-oriented coach. You can’t concede three goals in a home game, no matter how many you score. Eventually, it will come back to haunt you. I believe in rewards. If you have professionalism, a sense of responsibility, and reliability in these games, you won’t concede three goals.”
Ultimately, however, the three goals from Robin Müller (39th minute) and Lorenzo Paldino (71st and 90th+7 minutes) were not enough for the visitors. Jannis Boziaris (24th, 60th), Erik Engelhardt (34th) and Tolcay Cigerci (90th+) ultimately secured the home win for the Lusatians.
That’s enough for first place, at least as long as MSV Duisburg Rot-Weiss Essen remains undefeated in the derby on Sunday, October 26, 7:30 p.m. However, the team’s position at the top of the table is not a major factor, emphasized double goal scorer Boziaris: “We don’t focus on that as a team; instead, we aim to earn points week after week and see where we end up.”
