For months, KFC Uerdingen has been planning an extraordinary general meeting to dismiss the current board. Now the way forward is clear.
At KFC Uerdingen, the past has still not been properly consigned to the archives. Insolvency proceedings are still ongoing, and the curious structure remains in place whereby Thomas Platzer and his colleagues are officially still in office as the board, but no longer have any say.
This is because insolvency administrator Thomas Ellrich had already decided months ago that, in his view, the concept of friends and sponsors (FuF) was more suitable for leading the club into the future.
The FuF are now taking care of day-to-day business in cooperation with Ellrich, but they do not yet have official legitimacy. This is because it has not been possible to convene an extraordinary general meeting for months.
Platzer and Co have no interest in this, so the three KFC members Christoph Epping, Jörg Gredig, and Udo van Koll set out to collect signatures in order to convene an extraordinary general meeting at which the FuF would be officially elected to office.
The Krefeld District Court recognized the trio’s member petition, but there was another objection, and on October 22, 2025, the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court ruled that the District Court had made a mistake.
Therefore, this step must now be repeated. In a letter, Epping, Gredig, and van Koll announced: “Dear fellow campaigners for a bright future for KFC, after we received the decision of the Krefeld Local Court on August 5, 2025, regarding our application of June 5, 2025, the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court announced its decision on October 22, 2025. Unfortunately, the decision of the Krefeld Local Court was found to be flawed on one point. Therefore, we must ask for your support once again. We have one last step to take to ensure that our club has a leadership that is democratically supported by its members.“
The trio added: ”The members’ petition was successful. The board would be obliged to issue the invitation itself. Since it continues to refuse to do so, the Krefeld District Court must authorize members to issue the invitation. According to the Higher Regional Court’s ruling, an additional form must be submitted to the district court by those members who had already requested the board to issue the invitation. With this form, you confirm that you agree to the Krefeld District Court also being called upon on your behalf. For legal reasons, those who did not sign in May are unfortunately unable to participate at this time.
Here are the next steps: Anyone who already signed in May can sign the form on Friday, October 31, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the wholesale market canteen. Alternatively, the form can be downloaded here, filled out, scanned, and sent to [email protected]. It can also be filled out and handed in at the wholesale market canteen. As soon as there are enough signatures, the trio will apply to the Krefeld District Court for permission to convene an extraordinary general meeting.
The meeting should include the following items TOP 1: Report on the situation of KFC by the insolvency administrator
TOP 2: Presentation of the concepts of possible parties (in particular financing, training operations, youth work, proposed persons, maximum 15 minutes per party)
TOP 3: Vote on the following motion: The extraordinary general meeting recommends that the board of directors dismiss the current executive board in its entirety with immediate effect.
If item 3 is successful and the current executive board is dismissed, the FuF could receive official authorization from the members to head the KFC.
